19th Blackmore Vale Half Marathon 

The 19th Blackmore Vale Half Marathon, organised by the Blackmore Vale Lions Club, was run on Sunday 6th February 2011.

The race was at the Playing fields, Bishops Caundle, nr Sherborne, Dorset. The weather was very windy but mild. There were 550 entrants from all over the UK and even the USA with 456 finishing the half marathon and a further 23 completing the Fun Run.

Emma D’Alton beat her ladies record which she set last year and stood at 1hr 21min 58sec by 1 min and 2 secs Nathan Shrub of Morpeth Harrier dominated the men’s race with a time of 1:12:23 - 25 secs ahead of John Dewey of Guilford & Godalming.

The Men’s Team Race was won by Clevedon comprising Baaba Sow, Richard Smith, and Mark Templar. The Ladies Team Race was won by Egdon Heath Harriers comprised of Sharon Green, Beverley Beavers and Frances Anderson

The Fun Run was won by Rebecca Elliott 37:52 with Rebecca Carver 41:33 of Wells City Harriers runner up

Lions President Colin France thanked the 101 officials, marshals and caterers who made the event possible and the villagers of Bishops Caundle for once again allowing us to use their facilities.
